Colin Hunter
Colin is a trial lawyer who has successfully litigated cases from inception through verdict in state and federal court. Admitted in Oregon, Washington and California, his practice emphasizes disputes involving real property, breach of contract, and business torts. He also has significant experience advising clients on and litigating matters involving constitutional law, public law, and public records issues.
As a former intelligence officer and former public member of a regulatory board, Colin brings significant experience in government service to his litigation practice. Prior to joining the firm, Colin was an attorney at Angeli Law Group LLC and Stoel Rives LLP.
Colin is based in Oregon and has litigated matters throughout the country for his clients.

First chair in jury trial resulting in substantial verdict, decree of specific performance and attorneys’ fees for client in suit arising out public body’s breach of agreement to lease hotel property to client.
First chair in bench trial resulting in verdict for client of specific performance of contract to purchase hotel property. Successfully enforced client’s purchase agreement despite separate contract signed between seller and third-party purchaser.
Leading member of attorney team representing manufacturing company in complex class action alleging diminution in property value from airborne emissions. Negotiated favorable classwide settlement of all claims following several years of litigation.
Represented property developers and business owners in numerous disputes arising out of real property purchase and sale transactions.
Obtained summary judgment in favor of client defending attempting foreclosure of hotel property.
Obtained dismissal of all claims in multimillion dollar case alleging securities violations arising out of promissory note given to finance purchase of real property.
Successfully negotiated resolution of multimillion dollar disputes regarding client’s alleged commitment to sell business assets, including substantial real property assets, to multiple buyers.

Co-chair in bench trial resulting in judgment finding public agency liable for violations of public records laws, and imposing sanctions and attorneys’ fees, for concealing existence of responsive records relating to publicly-funded research activities.
Favorably resolved malicious prosecution case arising out of unconstitutional investigation and prosecution of former law enforcement officer by political adversaries.
Obtained preliminary injunction and summary judgment in favor of pharmaceutical company seeking to enjoin public release of confidential, proprietary information disclosed to state government pursuant to confidentiality agreement.
As outside counsel to state public defense agency, actively defended agency’s interests in the midst of historic crisis in representation for indigent criminal defendants.
Advised and defended numerous clients facing threatened claims arising out of constitutionally protected speech activities.
